Adams Finishes the Job

Arsenal 4–0 Everton · Highbury, London

The centre-half hit the fourth, and Highbury had its title.

Arsenal were 3-0 up and effectively champions when Steve Bould lifted a ball over the top and Adams, the captain, chested it down and drove it past Myhre like a centre-forward. The win made them champions with two games to spare, the first title of the Wenger era. With Bould on, the 1989 back four of Dixon, Bould, Adams and Winterburn were back together on the pitch.
