Giggs Takes the Long Way

Man Utd 2–1 Arsenal · AET · Villa Park, Birmingham

Ten men, one loose pass, and a run that ended the tie.

United were down to ten men, Schmeichel had saved a late penalty, and extra time was dragging. Vieira's loose pass found Giggs inside his own half, and he slalomed through the Arsenal defence and hit it high past Seaman. Then he tore off his shirt and ran to the touchline.
