Rain in Moscow

Man Utd 1–1 Chelsea · 6–5 on pens · Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow

Ronaldo scored in the rain, missed in the shoot-out, still won.

Wes Brown crossed, Ronaldo rose above the Chelsea defence and headed United in front, and Lampard levelled just before the break. Nothing more happened until Drogba was sent off in extra time, so it went to penalties. Ronaldo's stuttering kick was saved and Terry slipped on his, then van der Sar stopped Anelka to settle it.
