Two Minutes on the Pitch

Real Madrid 3–1 Liverpool · NSC Olimpiyskiy, Kyiv

Bale came off the bench and needed two minutes to matter.

Bale had been on the pitch for two minutes when he met Marcelo's cross with an overhead kick that dropped in under the bar. Later he sent in a long shot that Loris Karius let slip through his hands, and Real Madrid had 3-1 in Kyiv. A third European Cup in a row, won by the man who began on the bench.
