Klinsmann Breaks Dutch Resistance

West Germany 2–1 Netherlands · San Siro, Milan

Two red cards, one Klinsmann goal, and Germany march on.

Völler and Rijkaard were both sent off after twenty-two minutes, leaving ten against ten in a match already full of needle. Klinsmann put West Germany ahead six minutes after half-time, Brehme made it two, and Koeman's late penalty made the finish tense. West Germany went on to win the tournament.
