Rahn, Two Down and Then the Rain

West Germany 3–2 Hungary · Wankdorf Stadium, Bern

Two down in eight minutes, West Germany still won it.

Hungary, who had beaten the Germans 8-3 in the group, led 2-0 after eight minutes. Morlock and then Rahn pulled it level in the rain. Rahn's low drive six minutes from time won it, and Puskás's equaliser two minutes later was flagged offside.
