From over thirty metres out, Roberto Carlos ran at the ball with a long, stuttering run-up and struck it with the outside of his left foot. It set off wide of the French wall, bent back in and clipped the inside of the post on its way into the net. France drew level after the break through Keller, but nobody replays that part.
