Ronaldo's two goals in Yokohama closed a story that began in Paris.

Oliver Kahn had not conceded in 427 minutes when Rivaldo's low shot slipped through his hands on 67 and Ronaldo followed in. Twelve minutes later Kléberson ran at the defence, Rivaldo let his pass go through his legs, and Ronaldo put it in the bottom corner. He had spent two years recovering from his knee injury, and this was the answer.
