The Gerrard Final

Liverpool 3–3 West Ham · 3–1 on pens · Millennium Stadium, Cardiff

Down 3-2 in the last minute, Gerrard let fly from distance.

West Ham led 3-2 and Cardiff was running out of clock when Riise's ball broke loose to Gerrard, thirty-five yards from goal. He caught it on the volley, low and flat, and it was past Hislop before anyone could react. Extra time brought only cramp, and Reina saved three of West Ham's four penalties to finish the job.
