Trailing to Rivaldo, Liverpool needed three; Gerrard struck the last.

Rivaldo's free kick put Olympiacos in front, so Liverpool needed three goals to go through. Sinama Pongolle scored from Kewell's cross just after the break, Mellor stabbed in a rebound on 81, then knocked the ball down to Gerrard four minutes from the end. The captain drove it in from outside the box, and Liverpool were through.
