Rush Settles the Merseyside Final

Liverpool 3–1 Everton · Wembley Stadium, London

Everton led at the break; Liverpool took the Double anyway.

Everton went in ahead through Gary Lineker, the First Division's top scorer that season. Ian Rush equalised after the break, Craig Johnston put Liverpool in front, and Rush added a third late on. It completed the Double in Kenny Dalglish's first season as player-manager.
